As 2018 draws to a close, we had time to fit in one more Platform Project show for you and this time it was hosted by yours truly! A chance to reflect on the year with some Liquid Drum & Bass and good vibes in the chat room, let’s find out a little more about what happened last night 🙂
For those who don’t know, the Platform Project is a monthly show that is broadcast on the mighty BassportFM where myself and DJ Pi take it in turns each month hosting a 1 hour mix of our favourite Drum & Bass tracks. Our regular slot is at 9pm UK time on the 3rd Saturday of each month and the show/podcast has been running for 52 months now. It was originally set up by Jimmy Dark and DJ Pi but I was invited to help out in March 2017 as Jimmy stepped down.
We try to feature guest mixes from upcoming DJs, tracks from upcoming music producers and then mix them all in with some of the big names.
December 2018 – PP#52
However, as this time of year is about reflecting about events that have happened, not just over the last 12 months but looking back on where we’ve come from, I wanted to share some of the tracks that helped me get through some of the toughest times I had during my Undergraduate days from 2005-2008. There’s of course always room for some new ones and I sneak in a couple of brand new exclusives as well as some from my forthcoming Comeback EP – the full track list is at the bottom of this blog (with links).
Might as well talk about this whilst we’re here 😉 You’ll hear a couple of tracks from the Comeback EP in the show – Can’t Give In and Reality Check. I’ll be going in to more detail about why I made these tracks in future blogs as each one has a story behind them. It just so happens that they all came together perfectly to make this 6 track Drum & Bass bonanza 🙂 If you missed the first post called “3 Ways To Deal With Overload And Stress”, don’t worry, you can catch up on it here – it also features the first track called Overload – full EP clips below and it’s out on 20th December!-
Platform Project 2019
You may not hear my beautiful voice on the Platform Project for much longer as I’ll be jetting off to the other side of the world in April, so looks like my last show will be Feb 2019, then it’s over to DJ Pi to command the cruise ship over the ocean of Drum & Bass. The next show will be hosted by him on Saturday 19th Jan at 9pm UK time so stay tuned for that!
All that leaves me to say is I hope 2018 has been a good year for you, take time to reflect and all the best for 2019. Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year from the Platform Project!
